There lived a certain man in Hillsbrad, he was
big and strong and in his heart a powerful
flame did glow. Alexander Armstrong was his
name and his strength and ability to endure
multiple devastating blows were legendary. He
came from a proud line of herders, and he
believed true courage lay in using one’s power
not to dominate, but to protect those in need.
His parents, Hemmit and Tamara Armstrong, were forever proud of the man their son had become.
Because of Alexander's strong body & heart, He joined the Alliance military
at the age of 16 to serve the protect the people of the Eastern Kingdoms
that could not fight for themselves. After 8 years of service Armstrong was
promoted to the rank of Major and continued to serve for the next 5 years.
Being a Major gave Armstrong command of a company of 30 men and
dwarves that called themselves the Iron Shield. Major Armstrong would lead
the company into dangerous situations where civilians were already being
counted among the casualties. Major Armstrong and the Iron Shield would
gain a reputation for their actions in saving many civilian lives. Armstrong
and the dwarves under his command would come to have a strong ties of
mutual respect because of their shared trials.
Unfortunately, not everyone saw his actions as heroic. Many in the Alliance
military, mostly of higher rank, were humiliated by the actions of the Iron
Shield as they would go into battlefields which a commander had already
lost in order to save the lives they could not. Major Armstrong would later be
charged with insubordination after willfully disobeying orders one too many
times not to go onto a forfeit battlefield. Because of this, Major Armstrong
was dishonorably discharged from service and would not be allowed to
serve in any of the Alliance military forces. The Iron Shield would likewise be dissolved and its members reassigned.
The title, Major, stuck with him. Armstrong had built such reputation that
people all over the kingdom would still call him by the old rank they knew
him by. Major Armstrong moved back to Southshore to be with his family
and swore to protect his homeland of Hillsbrad at the age of 32. The
people of Hillsbrad feel that the Alliance has abandoned them and Major
Armstrong has, as usual, thrown himself between his people and the many
dangers around them. As threat of Horde attacks increase, the Syndicate
pillage and thieve, and rumours of creatures coming down from the
mountains, Armstrong cannot do this alone.
The rumours of a young Perenolde noble wanting to sow the Kingdom of
Alterac back to together caused Armstrong great interest. Major Armstrong
sought out this young noble by the name of Kalimas Perenolde, and agreed
to help her if it brought the people of Southshore better security and safety.
It would also supply him with more opportunities to use a shield to defend
those in need.
